This was the statement of Makabayan-Nacionalista senatorial candidate and Gabriela Rep. Liza Maza, hitting the Arroyo administration's low budget prioritization of education in the past fiscal years, as well as the cuts in the budget of the state colleges and universities.
“The move to close U.P. Cebu High School is an attack against the Iskolars ng Bayan. This means depriving the economically destitute but intellectually deserving students the access to quality yet affordable education. This reflects the ill priorities of the current administration that has given the bigger chunk of the budget to debt servicing instead of education and other basic social services.”
